Unique Travelers Go Thru County Nels Holmes, 39-year-old Chicagoan, Chicagoan, with his pet monkey, Mary, perched on his shoulder, and Irwin Valleau, 54-year-old bewhiskered, unique bicyclist- poet, arrived in Ludington Friday Friday evening, the former on his- auto-glifle and the latter on his English* design (bicycle. They came here from Scottville and Manistee. To date Valleau estimates he has traveled about 26,000 miles and'has been in 39 states on his bicycle while Holmes has traveled traveled almost as far on his motorized motorized scooter. Valleau has been living that kind of life for the last 20 years—Holmes since 1923. Both men are vegetarians and believe that living Is best where fruit is ripe. They make their living by selling souvenirs, picking picking fruit, various odds-and-ends jobs. Valleau, gifted with a long beard, does a bit of modeling as a sideline. Valleau was born in Michigan and attended various colleges in the state, including Michigan State college. He taught school for two years. He has two children children living in the southern part of the state. Last night Valleau appeared on the amateur program program at Lake Michigan beach and read two 1 of his own poems the audience.
