Morgan Hancher, laged about 75 years and a veteran of the civil war, was run down by an east-bound east-bound east-bound I. U. T. freight train near Waymire's crossing, four miles west of Alexandria this morning a few minutes after 7 o'clock, and in stantly killed.1;':...!:.;";.:' Mr. Hancher, who lived in Dundee, was walking down the track enroute to the borne of his step-son,Walter step-son,Walter step-son,Walter Ship ley, at Orestes. He was also brui sed about the body and limbs. The car was in charge ofi Conductor J. H. Earl and Motorman R. A. Newby, and was en- en- route to this city from Indianapolis. It was stopped as quickly as possible, and the Alexandria station notified of the accident. When the car reached this city with the body, it was met by the Merker & Chalfant ambulance, and the body taken to the morgue, to await the in quest which Coroner Albright is hold ing today. v " The dead man was the father of Chas. Hancher, the well-known well-known well-known motorman who died at his home near Orestes a fewmonths ago. He has two sons, Joseph Joseph and Jacob, of Elwood, and two daughters, Mrs. Hanna Brown, of Elwood, Elwood, and Mrs. Emma Pulse, of Cowan, Delaware county.- county.- His widow sur vives, ana she bas-two bas-two bas-two children.
