William Specr, Hanover Hanover, 111., Jan. 14.—William Speer, 73, Hanover township assessor, assessor, passed away 'suddenly of a heart attack Monday at the T. J. Turner farm, where he had stopped to get assistance after his automobile automobile stalled. The son of Charles and Nancy Speer, he was born Oct. 16, 1869, in Jo Daviess county. His marriage to the former Etta Wolcott of Hanover Hanover took place Feb. 12, 1891, and they resided on a farm near Spencer, Spencer, la., for a number of years. Later they operated a restaurant in Hanover. Since 1935, he had held the post of assessor. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, daughter, Mrs. Lois Namur, of Fail-mount, Minn.; two sons, Roscoe of Minneapolis, Minneapolis, Minn., and Harry of Hanover; Hanover; two brothers, Walter of Little Falls, Mont., and Joe of Westfield, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Virtue and Mrs. Bessie Eastman, both of Hanover; a step brother, Roscoe Speer of Monmouth, and a step sister, Mrs. Nancy Moffett, of Hanover. Hanover. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church this afternoon. Burial took place in Evergreen cemetery.
