Clipped From El Paso Herald-Post
ORGANIZED MOVEMENT Some week* ago, the doctors at Ford Hospital told Harry Salsinger, sport editor of the Detroit News, that Heilmann would not survive the summer. Salsinger, Joe Williams, and the writer then organized a movement to have Harry named to the Hall of Fame. A scroll of official notification was to be presented to him or Mrs. Heilmann at home plate just before today's all star game. The mills of the Hall of Fame Committee grind slowly. Ever so slowly. Although a precedent had been set. in a similar situation, in the election of the tragic Lou Gehrig. the committee refused to take it upon itself to designate Heilmann, who was far more entitled to the honor than some of the old timers who had been chosen by that group.
