Pa? Twelve The Springville Kolob, Mapleton basketball league On Tuesday, Feb. 15, league play was culminated for the Kolob-Mapleton Young Adults. The final game of the season between Kolob First and Mapleton Third was a close one, with the Kolob First coming out on top, 37 to 33. For the losers, John Edmunds was high scorer with 15 points. Mark Koontz added 8. For the winning Kolob First, Doug At wood and Dave Lund each had 12 points. Because of the results of this game, the league was thrown into a four-way tie for fourth place and the final region tournament berth was still undecided. The four teams involved in the tie were Kolob First, Kolob Sixth, Mapleton Third, and Mapleton Fifth. Two play-off games were held on Thursday, Feb. 17, with Kolob Sixth eliminating Kolob First, and Mapleton Fifth played Kolob Sixth to determine fourth place -Mapleton Fifth coming out on top, 64 to 52. For Mapleton Fifth, Scott Shelley was high point man with 19 points while Shelby Hooper and Alan Poulson each added 14. Roger Davies of the losing Kolob Sixth was high point man on the floor with 22 points. Tom Cherrington had 11 points and Bret Gledhill had 9. With this win, Mapleton Fifth earned the fourth place berth into the Region Tournament. First night's play will be on Friday, March 4, with the tourney completing on Tuesday, March 8, and Wednesday, March 9. Mapleton Second also won the sportsmanship award as determined by the other players, coaches, and league officials.
