AUSTIN, January 1. i Special. ) The quarterly meeting was held at the Baptist Church last Saturday and Sunday. Rev.' Mr. Milburn, one of the editors of the Arkansas Baptist, was present and delivered two able sermons. He Is an excellent preacher and all enjoyed his sermons very much. Rev. J. M. Davis has been called as pastor of the church.' He is an able preacher, and is well known to the Baptists of Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Iseman, of Little Little Rock, have been spending the holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee holi-days-with-Teiativee and - friends'TM Austin. Mr. Iseman left yesterday for Little Rock, where he has accepted a position with Joe T. Qulnn Dry Goods Company. Mr. Iseman has many friends here who wish him much suc cess. - Mrs. Iseman will return the last of the week. Mr. Jos. R. Connor was out from Little Rock two or three days last week looking after his matrimonial in terests and visiting friends. Miss Nora Robinson is teaching a very successful school at old Austin, She has a good school and the patrons are all well pleased. : v Mr. E. T. Sears, of St. Louis, for merly of Austin and Little, Rock, spent the holidays with the "home folks." Mr. Sears Is a graduate of The Keys Institute, of Little Rock, and has many friends in the City of Roses. Miss Menta Robinson, of this place, la a candidate for postmistress of the next house. She is a most charming and accomplished young lady, and is well Qualified for the position, and her many friends are hoping that she will be successful. Trade has been good in Austin the past few weeks, and all our merchants have had a good holiday business. Prof. A. Blankenshlp, of "McRae, is teaching the winter school at the sta tion. He Is a good teacher and has a good attendance. Mr. Walter. Robinson, one of the most popuiar traveling inert on the road, who represents a tobacco firm, has been at Austin the past week or two spending .the holidays. Mr. Walker and daughter, of Walker, were here Saturday and Sunday visiting visiting friends and attending the Baptist meeting. - - . Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Connor left yes terday for Bald Knob, where they will visit Mr. and"Mrs. Ramsey. . .
