A 3Ian Killed by a Blow from a Club. Mr. Jesse Sandlin. Jr., a gentleman residing, in Onslow county, was struck on the head by a colored man Friday night last and died on Saturday.' The circumstances are as follows : - " Mr. Sandlin has a large farm which he rents out to colored tenants and on Friday night last a number of these people from the surrounding country mct'at the farm and held a ball. During the progress of the ball a row took place, and Mr. Sandlin i-. i-. i-. - crossed over from his house to stop it. As he went, in the room he recognized a man who was working with him, whom he told to come out of the house. TJi fellow declined to do so, and commenced commenced quarrelling, v whereupon Mr. Sandlin kicked and knocked him downf The man gained his feet and, seizing a club, struck Mr. Sandlin over tlie head, fracturing his skull.
