It OMTVAHY XUTES. James Alexander Simpson died at Baltimore, on Tuesday, at the age of 75 year. He was born at Frederick, Md. He was educated at the Georgetown Georgetown College, aud resided in that city until about 15 years ago, when ho moved to Baltimore. He started In life as a portrait painter, aud for 20 years or more was ll-ofessor ll-ofessor ll-ofessor of Painting and Drawing in trt;orgetowu College. He lias left a number of original original Scriptural paintings In Baltimore. Of these, one is at tiie Passionist Monastery', opposite Loudon Park; Cemetery. "The Entombment of Christ," his lost picture hut one, is considered his best effort. Mr. Simpson first married Miss Julia FranzouL daughter of Uie sculptor. Later in life he married Mrs. Sarah T. Gibson, widow of the artist, Rlcliord UUjsou, who survives him. James Dickson, father of Thomas Dickson, lresident of the Delaware and Hudson Canal
