The Muskellunge. The muskellunge is one of the most powerful and courageous of American fresh-water fresh-water fresh-water game fish, 17 often testing the skill of the most experienced anglers, but 14-year- 14-year- 14-year- 14-year- old John David was a match for one almost as long as himself. John, of 32 Atlas street, Akron, Ohio, caught the "lunge" on a recent recent fishing trip with his father and a party of friends to Sparrow Lake, North Bay, Ontario. It battled 45 minutes before John could get it to the side of the boat for his father to gaff. The muskellunge belongs to the ike familv and is usually found !in the deeper water of the Great Lakes region, although a smaller species is found in the upper Mississippi Mississippi valley. It has a long, slim body, golden-olive golden-olive golden-olive in color, thickly spotted with black above. Often 6 feet in length and 80 pounds in weight, it is one of the strongest fish for its size in the world and lives entirely on other fish.
