Jesse Sprnill was born in Washington County, April 17, 1845, and died at h'u home near Mackey's Ferry, N. C, February February 25, 1902 On the 29th of March, 1868, he was happily married to Annie M. Swain. To them were born seven children, children, six of whom, together with his vife, are still living. Bro. Spruill professed religion religion under the ministry of Rev. J. L. Keene, and joined Hebron M. E Church, South, at what was then known as Lee's Mill, now known as Roper, N. C. He was a quiet, good cit'zen, and as held in esteem by all who knew him. He was a tender, loving fa her, and a kind husband His death came rather suddenly, being sick about three days. One by one the men of the sixties are dropping out of the ranks to answer the roll call on tha other side of the river. To his family our het rt goes out in tender sympathy. A. J. Parker.
