Melvin Towne Obituary
Melvin Towne, Pelican Pioneer, Dies Early Today Melvin L. Townr-, Town of Peli can pioneer, died at 2:10 a. m. today today in St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 77. He entered the hospital hospital April 22 for pneumonia. Born Sept. 12, 1876, In Portage County, Mr. Towne had resided in the Rhinelander area for the past 50 years. On March 16, 1899, he was married to the former Mellissa Mellissa Melvina Miner of Waupaca. Mr. Towne was a farmer and a lumberman. He also was employed employed by the old screen door factory factory and the former refrigerator company here. He was a member of the Foursquare Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the Carlson Carlson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Franklin C. Brown officiating. Interment Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may'call at the funeral home from Tuesday evening evening until the hour of services. Mr. Towne is survived by h i s wife; four sons, Elmer and Walter, both of Colorado, Glen and Marion, both of Rhinelander; two daughters, daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Hazel) Gritz- mncher of Rhinelander, and Mrs. Ernest (Violet) Richtcr of Burlington, Burlington, Wash.; one brother, Ev erelte Towne of Monico, and several several grandchildren n n d great- grandchildren.
