ADDRESS ON MEMORIAL DAY Tribute to Valiant Dead and Appeal to Living I Issued by Officers of W. H Seward Post, No. 66 -The Order of the Patriotic Exercises Next Monday will be Memorial Day. The following address in relation to Its observance lias been issued ny officers ol W. H. Seward Post, No. 65: A^ time rolls on we are again on the eve of tile day sacred to all comrades comrades of the Grand Avmy of the Republic. Republic. Wliile we have the privilege let us do honor to the uiemory of our comrades who have answered the final earthly roll 'call and are now in the service of tho Great Commander. Let us tenderly strew each grave with choicest flowers and droop above them the flag tor which they ottered their lives. As we gather at the last resting places of those who were once well as we are, let us voice a prayer that our lives have been spared to enjoy the fruitage of thbir toil and sacrifice, anrt to see and know the growth and glory of their toil and sacrifice, and to see nnd Know the growth and glory of the country tor which front 18G1 to 1865 we were offering liealtli, life, and limb.. li\ the forty-five years which have passed since then wo have witnessed our country grow from a population of 35,000,000 to a great world power with a population of nearly 100,000,000. May we be spared dur reason to the very end, that when the time shall come, we may face with unfaltering courage and Conqueror, . comrades have already crossed the last 'breastworks. Let us do our part to continue to the illustrious dead the reverence of the ever Increasing millions millions living in security and peace in tho land saved by the matchless devo tioti ot the Union soldiers. Let our love, affection and comradeship be characterized by a sincerity and faith fulness that will render the tribute sacred and keep Memorial Day de voted to the purpose for which it was designed. All comrades of the Grand Army of the Republic and all Confederate soldiers soldiers will assemble at. headquarters in the City Hall, Sunday, May 2!>th, at 10 o'clock a. m. nnd march in a body to the 51. K church, where memorial services will be held. Rev. A. C. Bane will deliver the message. The Women's Women's Relief Corps and the Spanish War Veterans are invited to attend. W. IT. Soward Post, G. A, R., will •assemble at headquarters In the City Hall next Monday, May 30th, at 9 a. m. :sharp, and will be escorted by Company Company F, N. G. C., and Camp Kenzie, Spanish War Vetreans. to Woodland •cemetery. All ex-confederate soldiers .are most cordially Invited to attend. WILLIAM HUDSON, 13y Older of Adjutant.
