ACCIDENT AT GROVE CITY. A serious accident ocurred at the Bessemer Gas Engine plant in Grove City. While loading a 150-horsepower 150-horsepower oil engine for foreign shipment, shipment, Johnson McCommons and Francis Williams were caught between between the two heavy flywheels, which had been placed in a box car in crates These wheels weighed 4,000 pounds -"- 1 - They were opposite each each. other in one end of the car and the men were between tho wheels attempting attempting to change the positon of one of them when the jostling of the car tumbled one of the wheels over, catching the men between them and holding them there until a hole could he cut in the roof of the car in, order to lift the wheel with a crane. The heads and shoulders of the men sustained sustained the most of the injuries. Mr. McCommons having his face, neck and chest crushed. He was unconscious unconscious when taken out from under the wheel. He is at the present time suffering severely from his injuries adn his recovery is very doubtful. Mr. Williams was apparently less injured. injured. He had a bad scalp wound and an injured shoulder. Mr. McCommons McCommons has been employed at the Bessemer Gas Engine works since its beginning. Mr. Williams has been there for almost one year.
