of 910 who for and of NONSECTARIAN Church Operates Teen Club Fridays NETHER PROVIDENCE - A nonsectarian teen - age club is open to the public from 8 p.m. :o 11 p.m. every Friday evening n the parish house of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Providence Road and Bullens Lane. Any youngster of high school age (ninth through 12th grade) s welcome. There is no admission charge and no planned program or religious requirements. The club s primarily a place for teenagers to meet and be with other :een-agers. The church has made three rooms available for this new 'hang-in," with records for those who wish to dance, ping- pong and other games, and ables and chairs for those who ust want to set and talk. Soft drinks and snacks are also available. According to Holy Trinity Pas:or Rev. John M. Scherch, the club is being run with a minimum of adult supervision. The youngsters are encouraged to be responsible for the operation. Although there are four chaperones in the building, it is hoped they will have very little .0 do except serve the soft drinks, Mr. Scherch explained 'There are only four club rules," he added, "and I don't think the youngsters will find them hard to follow." They are (1) no smoking in the building (2) food will be eaten in the one room designated (3) shoes on while dancing (because of the wooden floor and danger of splinters) (4) closing promptly at 11 p.m If it is successful and if the youngsters want to add to the jrogram by bringing i n combos" or expanding to evenings, the church would no objections. In addition to inviting teen-ag- ers to take part, Mr. Scherch says the adult public is invited to volunteer for occasional (unobtrusive) chaperone duty, or as an interested resident would like to get "involved."
