Barrett Truancy 1-31-1903
ENFORCING SCHOOL LAW. Patrick Barrett, of Powderly street, was brought before Alderman Baker last night to show cause why he should not be fined for the truancy of his boy from school. The defendant declared that he had sent the boy to school each dav but that he has since learned that the lad ran away and did not attend school. The excuse was not deemed of sufficient weight to excuse the defendant and, he was fined $5 and costs. The board has decided to ' enforce the law regarding the non - attendance and the arrest of Barrett was in line with the decision of the board.
