Harold N. Coons of 106 W. Third St. was pronounced dead on arrival at Frederick Memorial Hospital at 2:42 p.m. Death was attributed to head injuries. Police said the accident oc- curred as Coons was fuming onto Maryland 355 about one- inile north of Frederick. He apparently failed lo yield for a .northbound car driven by Edgar E. Delauter of Lantz and was struck in the right side. Delauter was unhurt but his son Steven was treated and released al Frederick City Hospital for minor injuries. Melz was thrown from his westbound car when it left the road on a curve about three-miles west of Mercersburg shortly before midnight. He was a ward of the Franklin County Children's Home and for the past three years had roade his home with Mr. and Mrs. Lester Angle of Rt. 2. He was born in Waynesboro, the son of Beverly Cole Metz of Lebanon and William Metz. He was a senior at James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg. He was a member of the Cedar Grove M e n n o n i t e Church of Grecncastle. . He is survived by a sister, Miss Janet Melz, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Italy; Iwo brothers, Donald L. Metz of Greencastle and Winfield Metz of Ebansburg; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bruce Cole of Williamsport, Md. t ..Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Welsh Run Brethren Church near Mercersburg with the Rev. Nelson Marlin and the Rev. Russcl Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Lininger Funeral Home in Mercersburg from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday al the church one hour prior
