QUARREL ENOS IN BLOODSHED. Thomas Lile Shot By Dick Merideth At Leltchfleld. Leitchfield. Ky., Sept. 28. SpeclaL Thomas Lile, a young farmer who Uvea two miles south of town, waa shot and seriously injured by Dick Merideth, a young man of this place, at 4 o'clock this afternoon. The shooting took place at Coppage's livery stable, near tbe public square, where quite a number of men, some under the Influence of liquor, had congregated. A discussion came up between Lile and Merideth when, it ia said. Merideth pulled out a 33-calibre pistol and fired at Lile. striking him in the abdomen. Just below and to the left of the naveL Drs. Clarke and Green were called, and on examination traced the course of the bullet to tbe left hip. but were unable to locate it. Whether the intestines were pierced could not be ascertained. Lile suffers considerable pain. After the shooting Merideth walked to tbe County Judge's office and gave himself up. He claimed the shooting was done in self-defense. He waa so completely under the Influence of liquor that he seemed to be irresponsible for Ms actions. He waa committed to Jail to await his examining trial to-morrow.
