AUTO-TRAIN CRASH KILLS ONE, HURTS TWO MT. CLEMENS, Sept 9 UP)— Private Charles J. Rehkamp, 26, was killed and two other soldiers were injured today.when the auto In which they were returning to Selfridge Field collided with a Grand Trunk freight train at a crossing on Hall Road, a half mile north of here. Two empty box cars of the tram were derailed in the crash. Private Rehkamp was dead upon admittance to the base hospital. Private Wayne A. Brown was reported in serious condition there and technical Sergt. John J. White was discharged after treatment of minor injuries. Macomb county deputies said the soldiers were returning from Atlanta, Mich., after a week end visit with Brown's parents. Brown, who enlisted a week ago, was driving. Rehkamp, who enlisted a year ago from his home in Covington, Ky., was a minor league baseball pitcher, the property of the Toronto International League club, when he joined the army and became star moundsman of the Selfridge Field team. He was attached to the 859th signal service company. White, like Brown attached to the 4th air base squadron, is from Christopher, 111., and captain of the Selfridge baseball team. 2
