HL'itKAP. itt the named. Herman Zech Was Removing a Charge of Blasting Powder. Force of Explosion Struck Him the Face, Probably Destroying His Eyesight. Herman Zech, a laborer, was quite seriously injured yesterday morning an explosion which occurred at a quarry on Hancock street, near the soldiers' home. Mr. Zech had placed a charge of powder in a hole, which to explode. He started to remove I lie iowder, had succeeded in removing most of when the explosion occurred. The struck him in t lie face and it is that he may lose his sight. He was at once removed to. his on Fifth street, where Dr. Ghas. attended to the unfortunate man's injuries.
