At a meeting of the Liberty Fire Compa - . ... ny heM Monday Aug.. 29, ne following preamble and resolutions were unanimous ly adopted: ;, . ,'v V; a:;.'' , - Whereas the varied fortunes of the war have caused us to mourn the loss of our late fellow - members, ; Oapt. Henry E. Cleaveland, John Kreamer, - Samuel Fix, and Capt. Jacob Houdcr,whose noble traits of character endeared them to us, and rendered rendered them useful and efficient members of - , the Company. And whose bravery and - patriotism led them forth at their Country s 1 - call to tattle in the cause of ; Right, ;' where while nobly fulfiling their duty as men and soldiers they were slain. Therefore, . Retolved. that in the death of Capt. II. - & Cleaveland, Jno. Kreamer, Samuel Fix, nd Jacob Houder, the Liberty Fre Com - j any has been deprived of some of its most v efficient and useful members, who had just entered upon the career of manhood, and f" we their friends and associates bereft at so 5arly a day of conip anions, whose genial ' disposition won our affections, and whose manly attributes commanded our respect t. and admiration, feel that by their early demise a void has been created in our Com - pany that will long remain and be truly felt by all.1 ' Resolved that though we shall no longer hold earthly communion with them, nor ' .grasp their hands ; in fellowship, yet we hall ever' fondly ''cherish their memory. And to us it always will be source of pride : to point to our records which shall be honored honored with the names of our fallen heroes. Resolved that we deeply sympathize with ' ' the parents and relatives of the deceased and tender to them our warm condolence in this the hour of their bereavement. Resolved that in the appreciation of their worth and as a mark of respect, our Hall and Apparatus be draped in mourning for the space of thirty days.
