Several hundred National Gtiardsnnen from the Redlaods- San Bernardino area will motor march to Camp Irwin in the desert near Barstow tomorrow morning for two weeks of intensive battle training. Officers and enlisted men of the 2nd Armored Rille Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment, commanded by Lt. Col. Norman Young, will depart from the San Bernardino armory at 6:30 a.m. The convoy is scheduled to arrive at Camp Irwin atiout noon. The 2nd ARB is part of Combat Command B of the 40th Division. Other units from Southern California communities will arrive during the day. Memberi of Co. C More than 32 Redlanders, all members of Company C, 2nd ARB, v/iii participate in the annual summer field training. Company C is commanded by Capt. Donald Fiedler, 31491 Highview drive. Executive Officer is Lt. Richard Bise of Yucaipa, and First Sergeant is Sal Tedesco, 1307 Campus avenue. 32 Redlandeis leave Saturday for National Guard training Other units of the battalion in -^ea dude Company A of Banning, Icommanded by Capt.-Newton Powers; Company B of Colton, commanded Capt. Thomas E. Aall Jr.; Company D of San Bernar- |dino, commanded by Capt. William M. Jamieson and Headqpiar- ters Company of San Bernardino, commanded by Capt. James L. Brickley. Guardsmen will assemble at the{ San Bernardino armory this evening for final loading of vehicles. They will remain at the armory until the convoy pulls out in the morning. Tactical training has been scheduled during early morning or night hours to avoid the desert heat, according to Lt. Cel. Young. The citizen soldiers will apply classroom theory to tactical situations in a continuing series of attack and defensive exercises. Liv* Firiim Lt. Col. Young stated that rifle squads will be put through at least one problem using live ammunition. Mortar platoons will under- "Uve firing" service practice with 81 nun. mortars throughout tlie encampment. The summer training will end on August 5 when the Guardsmen return home.
