Mojave Desert searcli continues for lost soldier FORT IRWIN (UPI) -Search parties today continued to roam the Mojave Desert in quest of an Army reservist missing for over a week. The subject of the painstaking operation that has involved some 700 men is Spec. 4 Jeffry L. CulUmore, 23, of Bountiful, Utah. CuUimore's companion, 2nd Lt. Arthur Rowland Jr., 25, of Monrovia, was found dead last Saturday night. An autopsy showed that he had died of exposure and dehydration the previous Monday or Tuesday. The pair had set out two Sundays ago in a jeep from this isolated Army base. Searchers foimd the jeep out of fuel earlier Saturday. From souvenirs found in it they inferred that the men had been to Death Valley and were on their way back to camp. Ironically, Rowland had ap parently died only a mile from water. A source familiar with the area said the water could have been found at the bottom of a nearby mine shaft and also at Cave Sprmgs some 4 miles away.
