Omahan Disbarred By Supreme Court JOmaha attorney Joseph Savin, sentenced to prison recently in connection with an embezzlement embezzlement charge to which he pleaded ne contest, has been disbarred by the Nebraska Supreme Court. fThe high court's decision followed the filing of a Nebraska State Bar Assn. (NSBA) complaint complaint requesting disciplinary ac- tiCm against Savin. ;An NSBA member since 1971, Savin has appealed a one- to three-year prison term imposed on him in August by Douglas County District Judge John T. Savin pleaded no contest to a charge that he embezzled some $16,000 from the funds of a legal guardianship. The charge alleged that Savin converted funds from the guardianship guardianship of Mrs. Barbara Jean Maddox, a Wisconsin resident, to his own use while acting as her lawyer in Omaha. The funds, for Mrs. Maddox's two children, came from insurance policies on* their father, who died in a traffic mishap. Savin filed an answer to the NSBA complaint with the Supreme Court, waiving his right to a hearing before that body and admitting that he violated his oath as an attorney. He also conceded that he should be subjected subjected to whatever disciplinary action the high court "deems appropriate appropriate and suitable." on
