C Leaving For Summer Camp Redlands Company C of tha California .National Guard leaves early tomorrow morning for two weeks of summer training at Camp Irwin near Barstow. The "5 officers and men will be departing from the C.\G Armory on Texas street at 5 a.m. in troop carrying truck.s. instead of a 12:01 a.m. departure in buses as previously announced. The Redlands unit has a nc-v designator and is -now known as Company C. Second .-Vrmnred Rifle Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment. It will be part of the only rifle battalion in training at Camp Irwin, the other training at that time will be tank battalions. Previous training sessions were held cither at Camp Roberts or at C'a.mp Hunter Liggett. First Lieutenant Thomas T. Hall, Jr.. of San Bernardino, is commanding officer of Company C, and First Lieutenant Donald D. Jones of Redlands is executive officer. Second Lieutenant R. G. Kidd of Redlands is Platoon leader and mess officer. Company C will not be lakin? the two huge Personnel Carrier' (tank type vehicles) but will be accepting delivery of new models of the .M5.9 Personnel Carriers at Camp Irwin. Self Contained Unit When Company C moves out tomorrow morning it will be a complete self contained unit all being transported in two Jeeps and four six-by-six trucks witb six trailers.
