Singers Elect New Officers Charles R. Bird was elected elected president of the Swanee Singer Male Chorus for the 1962-1963 season season in an election election last week. Reel e c t e d were the following following officers: officers: J. Max Soelberg, business business manager; Harold A. Tripp, secretary; secretary; A. A. _ W a I d r o n , Mr. Bird treasurer; Clyde O. Helme, personnel manager, and O. Leroy Sanders, librarian. Since the last concert tour of the chorus, which took them to the San Francisco area in 1957, the chorus has been preparing for a major trip, either to Hawaii or to the eastern seaboard on the 50th anniversary of the chorus in the spring of 1964. The Swanees are believed to be the oldest continuously organized group in existence west of the Mississippi. The first concert of the chorus was sung in a circus tent on the banks of the Parley's Creek in Sugar House on April 14, 1914. 100 Vibrant Voices German LDS Choir Charts Spring Concert on Friday Annual Spring Concert by the German LDS Choir of Salt Lake City will be held Friday at. 8:30 p.m. in the Assembly Assembly Hall on Temple Square. Comprised of i m m i g rants from G e r- many, Austria and S w i t zer- land, the 100- voice organization organization is directed by Kurt V/ein- zinger, a member of the music faculty, Brigham Young University. Helmut Staufenbeil will be organist and this year's guest soloist is Winfried Czerny, tenor. Included in the program will be works by Beethoven, Bach, Schubert arid Mendelssohn. Mendelssohn. Johann Strauss' immortal immortal "Blue Danube" and several favorite German folk songs will also be featured. Mr. Weinziriger is an immigrant immigrant from Austria who received received his musical education Mr. Weinzinger at the Vienna Academy of Music. He is now acting conductor conductor of the A Cappella Choir and the University Chorale at BYU. Mr. Staufenbeil, the organist, organist, was musical director at various theaters in Germany Germany and is well known in Salt Lake musical circles. He will play Phantasy and Fugue in A Minor by Bach. Arriving in Salt Lake at. the age of 14 with his parents, parents, all refugees from behind behind the Iron Curtain, the soloist, Mr. Czerny, was graduated from South High School.
