Mrs. S.L. Bettes COOPER — Mrs. S. L (Nita) Bettes, 84, died Wednesday at 9;40 p.m. at the Delta Nursing Home. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Charleston Methodist Church with Ricky Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery by Delta Funeral Home. Mrs. Bettes was born in Charleston on Jan. 27, 1894, daughter of J. H. Oats and the former Cynthia Elizabeth McGuyer. She had lived in Delta County all her life. On July 23, 1910, she married Sammy Lee Bettes. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16,1964. Survivors include three sons, Marlin Bettes, Edwin Bettes and Bobby Bettes, all of Cooper, one sister, Mrs. Nell Peters of Cooper; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. Two sons, J. D. Bettes and James Bettes, preceded her in death. great'
