by Gettysburg Hen Leaves Eggs; Sun Plays Substitute GETTYSBURG, July Ig.-- That it ·was plenty hot in the Gettysburg territory last week, was settled beyond beyond any question of a doubt by old hen on the R. W. Nauman near this city. The hen was sitting on a nest of eggs under some gooseberry bushes north of the house. day the forepart of the week three baby chicks hatched out. Taking the three chicks with ler, the hen deserted the remaLaing eggs in the nest sought cooler quarters. A couple of days later three more chick_ battled their way through the shell, apparently apparently hatched by r_uthui£. but natural lieat, Mr. Nauman said.
