Young Athletes Show Class " With Saskatoon Quakers ML . - J ft all. irvir a4 x y i EARL SCANLON HOWARD GILL Here are two vounasters who sre just breaKiog into western vaniaa League baseball. Soanlon hails from Duluth, where he is a curler or re nowns he is well known by winnipeggers wno nave mi" Gill comes from Minneapolis and first drew the attention of locsl fans in 1918 when he pitched for the Minneapolis amateur team against Winnipeg. Senior Baseball League teams at Wesley park. Both Scanlon and Gill performed brilliantly at River Park Thursday for Saskatoon quakers against the Maroons. Scanlon played well at third base, clouted three singles in four trips to the plate and stole two bases. Gill pitched for the Quakers and only yielded six hits which were kept well scattered. Only two of the four runs garnered off Gilt were earned. The Minneapolis youth also showed some ability as a hitter by delivering a single and drawing a nasa in three times to bat. It looks as if these athletes will make good in Class "B" ball and then some.
