con mar but a ar modi wal a What a Steamer Captain Saw. An unusual spectacle is said to hav been witnessed tbe other night by Otis Ingraham, of the steamer Penobscot off the Maine coast. The air was very clear and the sky was cloudless. The tain could see the lights on Thatcher' island, Isle ot Shoals, Boone island, harbor, Cape Elizabeth, Seguin island Monhegan--something unprecedented ii his experience. As the distance from Thatcher's island to Monhej;an is eighty- seven miles, the clearness of the atmosphere can be imagined. The only time when all these lights were reported to been seen before was by Captain Boiz number of years ago.
