Incidentally in delving ini data pertinent to the old tavern it was found that another tavern was in operation on the Nationa Pike in West Brownsville during the early days of the Hopkin tavern. This ofter tavern was locatec in an old stone house a short lance west of the inter-count; bridge approach and was main tained by Vincent Owen, a veter an of the Revolutionary War. tavern never gained either the popularity or the heavy patron age accorded its better situated competitor. Later the stone housi was purchased by Samuel son, operator of a celebrated distillery nearby, and incorporated into the distillery property.
