1960 Joan Carrigan wins Utah 4-H Style Dress Review
4-H Awards Youths Win Laurels in Fair Event Nine Utah youths won trips Saturday and another 18 received other awards at the annual award program of Utah <-H dubs. ANNOUNCEMENT of winners was made at a special program attended by some 300 persons in the Youth Building at Utah, State Fairgrounds. LaRee Anderson, Providence, Cache County, and Joan Carrigan, Midvale, won trips to the National 4-H Congress In Chicago later this year. MISS ANDERSON won her trip for best canning project, while Miss Carrigan won for taking the top prize in the style dress review. Trips to the regional 4-H meeting in Denver were won by Annette Owens and Marilyn Misrafi, Corinne, Box Elder County,' for best meal preparation by a team; Lyda Thompson and Karen Hansen, Spanish Fork, best home economics demonstration by a team; Elaine Peart, Richmond, Cache County, best Individual home economics demonstration; Jeff Larsen and Hank Hassell, both Price, best agricultural team demonstration. TROPHIES went to Mary Wyman, Emery County, best poultry; Geneal Gardner and Suzanne Gardner, Davis County, and Joyce Swensen, Utah County, lor best dairy foods demonstrations; Beverly Boyer, Vera Jean Boyer, both Summit County, and Bernice Nelson, Cache County, for best bread making. Julie Brugger and Margaret Ann Miller, Sevier County, and Carma Duke, Wasatch County, Won best home improvement trophies. JUDGING award winners In- eluded Boyd Nielsen and Ron- aZd Drake, both Salt Lake County, team trophy; Mr. Nielsen, individual trophy in poultry; Bruce Ericksen, Lowell Wayman and Allan Barrow, all Weber County, best crops demonstration team award. Lynn Sorenson, Utah County, won the livestock judging title, and Larene Ward, Box Elder County, won the home economics judging contest. UTAH AND Rich County 4-H livestock judging teams tied for first place and a run. off will be hold later to deieiv mine which team will travel to Denver for the regional meeting. Named top 4-H speakers were Dick Circuit, Wasatch County; and Pat Johnson, Davis County.
