Daniel Prentice Funeral services for Daniel Prentice, 88, who died in Provo Wednesday of cancer, have been set Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel. Mr. Prentice was born April, 28,1885, in Gastonville, Penn., to William and Anna Weir Prentice. He married Mary Vickers in Diamondville, Wyo. They later were divorced. He later married Celestine Chevaler on Nov. 12, 1939, in Rapid City, S.D. Mr. Prentice received a mining engineer degree through correspondence courses while living in Wyoming. He worked in mines in Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Colorado, West Virginia and Ohio as superintendent and safety engineer. He was deputy sheriff in Dines, Wyo. and owned a taxi cab business in Rock Springs, Wyo. He also was involved in fruit farming in Pleasant Grove. In 1960, he moved to California and operated a gas station. After retiring, he live in California until 1972 when he moved to Provo. He was a member of the Methodist Church, FOE, Odd Fellows and Knights of Pithias. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He is survived by his widow, Provo; three sons and one daughter, Jack Russell Prentice, Neenah, Wis.; John E. Prentice, Orem; Tom Prentice and Mrs. Wendel (Delores) Loveless, both Provo; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary one hour prior to services Saturday. Interment will be in the Orem .City Cemetery.
