SUNSHINE VALLEY By Miss Irene Edgar Mrs.-Walter Russell, wh o j, as ;been 111 at the home of her parents Mr. and- Mrs-. H. S Hanna of Sparta for the past two weeks returned home Saturday. She is much Improved. Mrs: Luke~Stncker and son Jimmie, left Du Quoin, Saturday en- route -to theu- home in Chicago They stopped in Centralia an d Spent the night there with friends. They had been visiting her father Gill Edgar, and family, and other relatives and friends for seveial weeks? Mr. and Mrs Gould Nosbit of East St Louis spent the week end with her sister, Mr and Mrs. John Speith and daughters Norma and Dorothy, and the new baby boy, J R. Little Carol Fay Speith returned home-with them, after a two weeks visit in East St. Louis. Mr Gilf Edgar filled his silo, •Monday. Mrs. John M. Edgar and son Gilbert, Mrs. Luke Stiicker and Jon, Jimmie, Mrs Beit Uhles and Miss Irene Edgar visited, Thursday with Mrs. Caiiie Morris of Willieville, Mis. Walter Russell and parents of. Sparta and Mrs. Ida Tabing and daughter. Fay, of Coulter vilfe. The Union' Grange held their "Booster Night" program, Friday night,. Sept. 25th. A large .crowd attended and enjoyed the speakers and tlie sandwiches, cookies, cake ;and coffee. They also had an exhibit of some of the things which •will be presented at the state meeting this Fall. -/Those from here who attended : the Friendship club meeting, at the home of Mrs. Freeman Robinson, last Wednesday,, were: : Mrs. •Ed Russell, Mrs. Luke Strieker and son, Jimmie, Mrs. Homer Russell and Miss Irene Edgar. _.jv.-Mr..and Mrs. Lou.Koen of Herrin - and Mr " an<J Mrs ' Freeman^Robin- son, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Russell, Sunday. , Homer Edgar ' is able to get around some on his crutches. A party was held at the Denmark school, last Wednesday night, in honor o£ Nelson Smith of that community, who had to leave for induction center Thursday. A nice crowd was present. ' . ..'..Misses Irene and Iva Fern Ed- .gar visited- a short time Saturday afternoon 'with Mrs. Milton Thomas who is in the .Marshall Browning hospital, at Du Quoin. Lou Koen, Freeman Robinson and Ed Russell visited Gill Edgar and family, a short time Sunday afternoon.
