O'FALLON. III... Sept. 17. Mr. and Mrs. John N. Bevlrt. prominent residents ot this vicinity, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary yesterday. The venerable coupls- coupls- were married la this city Sept. 17. 1854. After their marriage they began farming oa- oa- lana west of thta city, where they still reside. Twelve children were born of this union, all of whom are living near this city. , - - Mr. Bevirt was born In Wllliatrjson county. Tennessee. Jan. 4. 1833.- 1833.- He.' with his par ents, came to Illinois and settled at Mount Vernon in 1839. Leaving Mount Vernon In 1844, he went to Belleville, where In 1849 Mr. Bevirt, In- In- company with George A. Harvey and Thomas J.. Walker, established- established- the Illi nois Republican, which was edited with more than, average ability, and in Its day was the most potential organ of Its party In southern Illinois. Ia 1854 Mr. Bevirt and Mr. Shoupe began the publication of the Eagle. - When issued it was a daily, but It soon changed to a -weekly, -weekly, and was called, tbe St. Clair Tribune. He waa married the same year to Miss Elisabeth Sparks, after which he he-came he-came he-came aa agriculturist. Mrs. Bevirt was a daughter "of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Sparks and waa born Aug. 20, 1839.. - - -
