Helen Sur, Helen Rosalie Kalei Keliikipi Sur, 85, mother, grandma and tutu passed away Jan. 20, 2016. She was born in Honokaa. She graduated from Konawaena High School in 1948 and met her husband, William John Sur, when she was 21. Helen was active in sports and loved volleyball, softball and bowling. She coached the women’s volleyball leagues in Kailua-Kona in the early 1960’s and passed on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the love of fishing. Her funeral and prayer memorial service will be 10 a.m. March 19 at St. Benedicts Roman Catholic Painted Church, 84-5140 Painted Church Road, Captain Cook, Hawaii 96704. Her ashes will be spread at sea at sunset. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Sur, and son, William John Sur. She is survived by her children, Wessely Sur, Sandy Daniels and Lani Toyama; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. David Kamau David Moses Kamau Jr., 38, of Pahoa, passed away on March 4, 2016. David was born on Nov. 21, 1977, in Hilo. He worked as a care coordinator for Mango Medical.
