a LAWRENCEBURG, TENN., April 8, 15:0.-Dear Mr. Editor: I fear when you open this letter you will think the writing is not nice. so I must tell you lam ouly eight years old and wrote first copy about six Inonths ago. I go to school and bave learned some pretty speeches from the book, "Little Pieces for Little Speakers," which papa selected from your book list and gave me for a Christmas grift. I love school very much, but I am always glad when Saturday comes :0 I ran have a nice, long play with my little sister Mary and our tiro pretty pointer dogs, "Pedro" and "Ponto." If I am a girl, I love dearly to play with my dogs. They are so playful, and follow sister and me wherever we go. We call Mary "Little Itunaway, because whenever she Buds the front gate open sho runs away. One day we wissed hor, aud alter a long search we found her sitting on the bank of a small creek, which runs near our house, with her kit!en in ber lap, and throwing stinks into the for Pedro to jump in and bring out. she was lancing and clapping her bands, and was not airald of the water at all. She is four years old, and We think sho is so smart and sweet. Your little friend, ANNA ROSE SPOTTSWOOD.
