Francis Lenz, who has been playing leading roles at the American since the new company was installed seven weeks ago, 1s making his farewell appearance this week in the role of Mephisto in "Faust.". has won many friends in *Spokane and proven himself an actor of abil1ty. In all probability he will go east to accept an offer. Mr. Lenz's place will be taken in the American company by Henry Hall who played leading business with Catherine Countiss at the Hellig theater in Portland all last summer and more recently was with high Henry Hall. class road companies in the east. Mr. Hall comes well recommended, 19 young, has had wide experience and is said to have a commanding stage presence. For two years he was starred in the original production of "The Man From Home" by the Liebler company, playing the western states and cities, while William Hodge appeared in the east. In addition he has been leading man at Ye Liberty playhouse in Oakland, California, with Percy Haswell in Toronto, the Galety in Hoboken, a N. J., and with the Baldwin Melville stock in New Orleans. Mr. Hall will open at the American on Monday, December 16, in "The Greyhound," a play which has never before been seen outside of New York city. During one of the earlier weeks of his engagement the American players will offer "The Man From Home,' which has been secured through permission of Liebler and company.
