Rites today for pioneer lumberman NEW WESTMINSTER Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the : funeral chapel of S. Bowell and Sons for pioneer Royal City a resident and lumberman H. Clifford Airth J.P., 79, of 53 Sixth avenue. Rev. W. B. Willan will officiate at services which will be under the auspices of King Solomon Lodge No. 17 AF and AM and interment will be in Fraser cemetery. MR. AIRTH was born in Renfrew, Ont., and came to New Westminster in 1908 where he obtained employment in the sales department of Brunette Sawmills. He was sales manager of the False Creek Lumber Co. and was associated with sev. eral other B.C. sawmills be. fore entering private business as a lumber broker several years ago. HE WAS a veteran of the Boer War and served two years with the South African constabulary after the war. He also served in the First World War and was a life member of the New Westminster Canadian Legion. Mr. Airth was a past master and life member of King Solomon Lodge No. 17 AF and AM and an active member of the Queens Avenue United Church. HE IS SURVIVED -by his wife, a son Clifford, New West- minster; five daughters, Mrs. A. E. Bach, Othello, Wash.; Mrs. W. G. Elmore, Smithers; Mrs. Evelyn Beaton, New Westminster; Ruth, San Francisco; Mrs. Victor Spencer Jr., West Vancouver; one brother, John, Renfrew, Ont., and five grandchildren.
