In the north our troops have continued their march towards Dunkirk, where a portion of them were able to embark under the protection of the Navy and Air Force in spite of the efforts of the enemy. Apart from a certain activity on the Somme there is nothing to report on the rest of the front In spite of unfavourable atmospheric conditions our aviation has effected deep reconnaissance flights, following which our bomber squadrons narassea tne enemy in the north and co-operated m the provisioning of our troops. From the French Air Ministry : At nightfall yesterday .Thursday! fighter aircraft earned out a reconnaissance at a very high altitude in the region of Dunkirk and flew over territory occupied by the enemy. On their return flight they kept very low without incident Two groups of bombing 'planes attacked enemy units on the Somme Canal near Abbeville. Their objectives were duly attained, notably an anti-aircraft battery which had been very active. All our aircraft returned to their base. Enemy objectives north of the Somme were also attacked and harassed by other bomber groups One 'plane failed to return. In the course of these missions more than twenty tons of bombs were dropped with success. During last night our bombers dropped munitions and other supplies for the Allied troops in the Dunkirk region by means of parachutes On their return they flew extremely low and obtained important information about the movements of the German troops, who had imagined they were perfectly secure because of the low-lying clouds. Some of our 'planes returned to their base after five hours. To-day CFriaay a group of fighters attacked a format 'on of Messerschmitts. One of our 'planes failed to return.
