Obituaries and funerals DOUGLAS J. PARENT JAMES W. DEANS WALDOBORO - Douglas J. Parent, 64, died Oct. 3, 1983. He was born in Waterville, March 24, 1919, son of David and Gladys (Jacobs) Parent. He owned and operted Waldoboro News Stand in Waidoboro for 17 years. He was a member of Waldoboro Lion's Club and a former chairperson for Amer(can Field Service. He was very civic minded and supported many local organizafions, including the Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, all athletic activities at the Medomak Valley High School, theater groups and the Lobster Festival. He also sponsored participants for the Lobster Festival Queen at Rockland. He was a very rare personality and was respected among many. He was a veteran of World War I1, having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by one brother, Alfred Parent of Rockwood. Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Home, 77 Main St., Waldoboro, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home at 8:10 a.m. Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newcastle, with Father Henry Sims, celebrant. ORLAND James W. Deans, 79, died Oct. 4, 1983, in Castine. He was born in Orland, July 23, 1904, the son of William and Jessie (Gray) Deans. He was member of South Orland Church of God, the Rising Star Masonic Lodge of Penobscot and worked for St. Regis Paper Co., Bucksport, for more than 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Violet (Curtis) Deans; two brothers, Robert and Norris Deans; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Page and Mrs. Jennie Farnham, all of Orland; five grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Russell. Funeral ser. vices will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the South Orland Church of God, with the Rev. Louis Cushman, officiating. Friends may coll at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in the family lot, Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland.
