Author Katherine R. Scott, was Massillon clubwoman Katherine R. Scott, a shortstory author who wrote for numerous magazines 30 to 40 years ago, died Sunday at her Massillon home after a long illness. Mrs. Scott, of 2110 Darby Drive N.E., wrote under the pen name of Katherine Greer and was the author of more than 400 stories printed i in magazines such as Redbook, Ladies' Home Journal, Woman's Home Companion, This Week, Canadian Home Journal and Writer's Digest. Born in Lexington, Ky., Mrs. Scott graduated from Vassar College in New York with a bachelor of arts degree. She once worked for the YWCA in Wheeling, W.Va. In 1921, she married William L. Greer, who died two years later. Mrs. Scott then moved to Massillon and lived with her mother, Effie Myers, who died in 1953. In 1953 she married R. Warren Scott of Massillon. He died in 1974. She also wrote radio scripts and her stories appeared in fiction anthologies. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she had served as state chairman of that group for eight years. She belonged to the Sippo Chapter of the Daughters of American Colonists, the McKinley-Madison Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812 and the Ohio Society Dames of the Court of Honor. She was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and for- merly was president of the women's auxiliary in the regional board of the church. She served as vice president of the board of the Massillon Woman's Club and was a member of Massillon Museum and Spring Hill Farm, a member and past president of the College Club of Canton, the Alumnae Association of Vassar College and the Cleve- land Vassar Club. Services will be held at noon Thursday at the Bellefontaine cemetery in Bellfontaine. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday St. Timothy's church.
