Injuries continue to take a toll on the Salem Dodgers. Mike Piazza, a catcherdesignated hitter, cannot catch because of a sore shoulder. Trainer Anthony Garcia said Piazza, who still can bat, is out of the defensive lineup for four to seven more days. Relief pitcher John Kries also is out with a sore shoulder. Kries, a right hander, was shut down for four days. Garcia said Kries worked in the bullpen Tuesday and probably will be allowed to enter a game situation within the next few days. Garcia also said that shortstop Gary Forrester may be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a strained ligament in his left thumb. He injured it while sliding head first into a base when he got his thumb caught under the bag.
