SUNDERLAND, Dorothy Maxine (nee Hamel) Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the age of 94 years in Langley Hospice. Born on October 25, 1923, she was the 7th of 8 children of Jacob and Janet Hamel of Scrip District, Saskatchewan. She finished her grade 12 schooling in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. It was in this area that she met her future husband, Mervyn Sunderland. They were married on September 24, 1942. They started and raised their family of six children in the Quill Lake area, moving to Saskatoon in January, 1976. It was in 1938 that Dorothy made her choice to serve God after "feeling a tug in her heart." Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Mervyn Sunderland, on October 15, 2007; one daughter, Darlene Sunderland, on October 2, 2017; her parents, Jacob and Janet Hamel; four brothers, Ralph, Gordon, Norman and Everett; three sisters, Irene, Hazel and Edna; and two grandsons and one great-grandson. She leaves with fond memories, sons, Doug Sunderland (Earla), Larry Sunderland (Pauline); daughters, Sharlene Munro (Don), Judy Gullacher (Peter), and Cheryl McDermit (Garry); 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Jenny Summach, Loretta Young, and Eva Sunderland; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Acadia McKague's Funeral Centre. 306.955.1600
