STRICKEN WHILE AT HIS WORK. Carl Benson, while at work oh the excavation for the foundation of the new Bacon Block on Washington street Saturday, was overcome by the heat between 3 and 4 o'clock. He fell to the ground unconscious. The ambulance was called and he was removed to the Receiving Hospital where he died at 3 o'clock Saturday evening. Deceased was a widower, the father of seven children, six of whom are livIng in Sweden, He was 52 years of age and a native of Sweden. Jalmar Benson, his son, is his only relative in California. He lived with him at 613 Ninth street. The son states that his lather has always been well up to a week ago, when he complained of vlolent pains in. the stomach and back. The remains are in charge of the coroner.
