) blag- lor President H al d f Ailewea ie. To tbe Editors of the A ppea' : 1 desire to oil your attention to a little circumstance which occurred on Beale sffeet thia afternoon. A colored man waa intoxicated and found asleep on the street by Officer Moses Plummer, colored, who happened to be "off duty." Plummer aroused the man, and instead of treating him civilly or with any consideration whatever, commenced at once to beat and kick the man in a manner he was not ia the least justifiable, as the man made no resis'ance whatever, and after going a abort distance Officer Aaron Stevenson, colored, met them and protected against the treatment ot Plummer and to prevent further nr.just treatment to the unfortunate man by Plummer, took tbe prisoner away from him, and carried him to the stationbou e in as humane a manner as possible uniler tbe circumstances. Thi) fact can be proven by quite a number who witnessed tbe affair, and as a fair man I am anxious to see an investigation of the affair, aa Officer Piummer has of late made himself verv officio!!'.
