Is Tagge To Play? Nebraska wrapped up its Lincoln preparations for Saturday's Colorado game Thursday amidst some concern for quarterback Jerry Tagge. Tagge suffered a slight groin injury during the light workout, but has been named to the 47- man travel roster and trainer Paul Schneider anticipates 1 the junior quarterback will be ready for action if needed Saturday. Van Brownson had been ticketed for the starting job. After the Cornhuskers completed their workout attention shifted to the scrimmage between the varsity "Commandos" and the freshman team. It was the Commando "homecoming" and the redshirt gang showed early that it was "up" for the big game on its schedule as Randy Curtis scored on a 94-yard pass from Chuck Osberg. Curtis later broke a 12-12 tie with a 70-yard touchdown reception from Osberg and the Commandos went on to win, 30- 18. Steve Runty also passed for a pair of touchdowns against the freshman as the varsity exploited the inexperformers perienced freshman secondary. He connected with Max Linder on a 95-yard scoring strike and hit fullback Ralph Powell for a 70-yard TD on a screen pass. Randy Butts plunged three yards for the final touchdown. The freshman scored on a three-yard David Humm to Glen Garson pass, a 33-yard Jerry Davis to Randy Borg aerial and a 36-yard run by I- back Don Westbrook. Coach Jim Ross sends his club against a highly-touted Iowa State team next Friday in Ames.
