Britsox 1991: A look back April 11-27: Lefthander Scott Taylor opens the season with 25 scoreless innings, going 3-0 in four starts. He was the first of 12 players to move up from New Britain to Triple A Pawtucket. By June, Taylor injured his shoulder and was through for the year. I May 22: Brian Conroy, who had lost his first four decisions, pitches a nohitter, surviving four errors, to beat Reading 3-0 at Beehive. "'When you're 0-4, you start wondering what you have to do to win, " Conroy said. In his previous start, he had pitched a two-hit shutout for nine innings and got no decision. June 14: The Britsox game with Albany is held up more than two hours on a hot, sunny evening after the sprinkler behind second base broke, and the water drenched the infield. "Don't even ask," pitching coach Rick Wise said. "I've never seen anything like this, not in 30 years. Never." A few days later, it happened again with the first-base sprinklers, but the Britsox were able to get started only 18 minutes late this time. July 4-14: Greg Blosser hits four home runs on a seven- homestand, raising his average above .200 for the first time. For Blosser, the No. 1 pick who had a miserable start, it was the most enjoyable stretch of the season. "I had come here with the intention of hitting more home runs than anyone ever had for New Britain, of doing everything perfect." I Aug. 4: The Britsox rally from behind to beat Albany 5-4 at Beehive in a game Pascual Perez started for the Yankees. Nearly 4,000 came out to see Perez, who pitched 2⅓ innings, allowing an RBI double to Lou Dorante.
