Mexican Repatriation THE wisdom of the recent order removing aliens from WPA rolls is shown in the subsequent decision of the Mexican government to repatriate its citizens who are jobless and needy in this country Previously this country has been carrying the burden of providing for unemployed Mexicans either at the taxpayers' expense or through private charity The idea of the Mexican government is to be commended since it means a restoration of unemployed citizens to self-support by giving them 50-acre tracts and small loans Mexico is not borrowing the public relief system from the United States and although accused of socialistic leanings is clinging to the principle of self-initiative for its jobless citizens who will be returned from the United States The specific plan employed by Mexico for its repatriated citizens could not be employed by the United States for its millions of unemployed but the idea of restoring initiative and opportunity for self-support to the jobless in this country is well worth consideration
