St. Pau;s and St. Lucy's Hall

St. Pau;s and St. Lucy's Hall

300 attend service of consecration An estimated 300 parishioners watched Friday night as Anglican Bishop E. S. Reed of Ottawa blessed the new $123,000 church in Overbrook that some had waited 40 years to see. "It was lovely," said one. "Many of the people were from other parts of the city who had once lived in Over- brook." I Following the traditional Anglican service of consecra- I tion, the onlookers jammed the new building to hear guest speaker Rev. H. T. O'Driscoll of St. John's Church deliver the opening sermon. i Then, congregation, choir and clergy moved across to the Robert Lay Memorial Hall for dedication ceremonies and a reception by ladies of St. Lucy's Guild. The parishioners, former members of St. Margaret's Parish, who founded the new St. Paul's in 1961, had worshipped in tiny St. Lucy's Hall on George Street from 1925 until just two months ago when the new church was sufficiently built to allow services to be held inside it.
