To save eight miles of extra travel, an alternate route is suggested: Take Ind 25 to Delphi.

Take Ind. 18 to Brookston and then turn left onto Ind. 43 in Brookston. At the stoplight on Ind. 43 near the Indiana State Police post near I-65, a sign marks the way to Harrison High School.

I saw them play against Lebanon and they just destroyed them took them right out of their game," Schilling said. "Berglund is a biq-time player. It will be a great challenge.

On paper, we don have a chance. But that's been the story of our season." Schilling wants his team to work on its inside defense this week. "We neea to get ready for some strong players inside. We have to be sound fundamentally on our post defense," he said. Logansport has won five in a row for the first time since the end of 1989-90 season, when the Berries won three regular-season games plus two more in the sectional.

Raider Rantings: Logansport will be the fourth North Central Conference team Harrison has played this year, and the Raiders would like to notch their first win against the NCC. "I felt like Marion was just a better ballclub," Young said. "We stopped their inside game, but they went crazy from the outside. Against Jeff and Kokomo, we did not handle the pressure well." Young said. "I'm impressed with Logansport's penetration and how they're using their personnel." Berglund leads the Raiders with 14.5 ppg, while Dunwody gets 13 and Terry 10.

NORTH MIAMI AT CASTON Tip-off: 8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Records: North Miami 4-3, Caston 5-3 Coaches: Pat King (North Miami), Vince Bertram (Caston) Last game: North Miami lost 66-52, Caston lost to Tippecanoe Valley 78-66 Probable Starters North Miami Tim Nutt Ryan Hughes Cecil Guire Jason See Steve Welch Ht. 6-1 6-0 6-2 5-9 6-1 Pos. Ht. 6-2 6-1 6-3 5-9 5-10 Caston Ryan Costeilo Matt Walsh Ryan Craig Ryan Hartzler Tim DePoy Warrior Words: North Miami has not played a game since Dec 21 so King is worried about how his team might come out and play this weekend.

"We are planning for ourselves more than Peru (Friday night) and Caston," he said. "We might be a little rusty. We are traditionally a little off on the first weekend back, or at least since I have been here." King is looking for some measure of revenge after the Comets' two wins over the Warriors last year. "It might be more for me since I have never beaten Caston (0-3)" he said. "They are two brand-new teams, but there might be a'little revenge left.

The players from both teams know each other so it will be a friendly rivalry. Caston is playing better than anybody thought they would after losing their players. They have a good mix of veterans and young guys. Their young players are really playing well. We especially have to watch Craig, who is one of the most aggressive players inside that I have seen." Comet Streaks: Caston will try to return to its form that brought them five early wins.

"We had some defensive breakdowns against Valley," Bertram said. "We have to pick up our defensive intensity this weekend. We played well on offense, but turned it over against their press too many times. Because of turnovers, we only attempted five shots in the second quarter." The Comets and Warriors will renew their rivalry, which included a thrilling overtime game last year won by Caston, and the championship game of the Logansport sectional, also won by Caston. "They are a good basketball team," Bertram said.

"They execute and are well coached. They do the little things that is takes to be successful." "He really burned us last time. We have to play much better defense on him. Also, Winamac is a very good free- throw shooting team, and they did very well last game. We were just flat after playing Knox very well the night before.

"Well, I'd say they swam pretty sood tonight considering that some of them did not swim their best events," Joy Gaby, Logansport boys' swim coach, said after glancing at the results of Thursday night's meet against Huntington North. Good enough for the Berries to drop the Vikings to 0-9 on the year after a 109-71 win.

"They've all been swimming consistently, so I'm pleased that their times haven't gotten slower as we've increased the workouts," Gaby said. Logansport got individual wins from Bob Kinsey (200 individual medley), Jason Hasseti (100 butterfly), Mark Erickson (100 freestyle) and Josh Hassett (100 breaststroke) as well as victories in each relay to improve to 8-2. Hassett dropped two seconds off his time in the fly, and Mark Erickson had his best time this season in the 100 free," Gaby said. Erickson finished the 100 free in 53.34 seconds, nipping Huntington North's Andy Martinez. The win gave Erickson a measure revenge because Martinez beat him by of a second in the 50 Andy Jason Hassett of Logansport won the 100-yard butterfly event despite coming a little too close to the lane divider during the Berries meet against Huntington Thursday.

When he wasn't passing the ball to his Indiana teammates, he was taking it away from the No. 10-ranked Hoosiers' bewildered opponents. Meeks played only 17 minutes Thursday night but keyed big streaks in both 'halves that carried Indiana over Minnesota, 96-50. It was the worst defeat in the Gophers' basketball history. "We wanted to stop their guards," the quick Meeks said of the Hoosiers' game plan.

"We worked on that hard all week, and tonight it paid off." Did it ever. Meeks had only three points all on free throws but he had seven assists and two steals and directed the Indiana attack after the Gophers' only real threat cut a 26-point halftime lead to 13 points early in the second period. "Meeks was really good coming off the bench," Indiana coach Bob Knight said. "You have to be pleased with" what we did, except for the start of the second half. "Meeks did something to ignite things in both halves.

He has moved into accepting the responsibility that seniors have to accept," he said of the 6-foot guard. It was the eighth straight victory for Indiana (10-2, 1-0 in the Big Ten) and the third straight loss for the Gophers Indiana held Minnesota to 33 percent shooting 28 percent in the first half. And the Hoosiers' 44-28 edge off the boards marked the first time this season mat Minnesota has been outrebounded. Indiana 96 Minnesota 50 Jamal Meeks scored just three free throws, but added seven assists and two steals "Minnesota played well the first five or six minutes of the second half and got things done that they wanted to do," Knight said. "We were really only a couple plays away from it being back into a ball game." The Gophers completed a 10-point streak and came within 55-42 before Meeks again entered the game.

A free throw by Damon Bailey and two baskets by Calbert Cheaney halted Minnesota's rally. Meeks assisted on a 3-pointer by Eric Anderson, then he stole the ball, was fouled and hit two free throws as the Hoosiers went up 65-42 and were never again threatened. "In the middle seven minutes of the second half we were able to regain control and that ended it," Knight said. Indiana freshman center Alan Henderson matched his career high with 20 points, Bailey finished with 17, Cheaney 15 and Anderson 13. "It was a senior veteran team playing a sophomore ball club," Minnesota coach Clem Haskins said.

The mostly reserves, Finished by outscoring the Gophers 27-4 the final eight minutes. The 46-point margin broke the former Minnesota record for the worst defeat, a 58-16 loss to Chicago in 1920. Associated Press Damon Bailey ends up in a headlock as he is fouled on his way to the basket by Minnesota's Bob Martin Thursday night in Bloomington..
